Titchmarsh & Goodwin Oak Pot Board Dresser
Titchmarsh & Goodwin Period Style Solid Oak Pot Board Dresser: Model RL36.
Established in 1920, Titchmarsh & Goodwin of Ipswich use only the finest British grown timber for their oak furniture. This is evident throughout the dresser; it is entirely from solid oak. The fairly prominent intentionally distressed finish and exposed wooden peg joints really do heighten the period look of this piece. The solid oak plank back is an added sign of quality.
The well presented rack has a moulded flared cornice with shaped frieze and the plate grooved shelves are flanked by shaped sides. The little cupboard at the top centre of the rack is fitted with a working lock and key.
The top of the base provides a conveniently sized area of surface space, as does the lower surface area. The 3 drawers are fitted with antique finished pierced brass handles. A shaped apron is located below the drawers, as are 3 well turned columns which form another pleasing aspect of the overall design.
The dresser is not fitted with a Titchmarsh and Goodwin name plate which is a common occurrence as not all items of T & G furniture is marked (especially if made pre 2000). To correctly identify a genuine piece of T & G furniture we check on the official T & G website where this model is still available to buy brand new.
